about the story
It started with a coddiwomple
And a national lockdown. And a little bit of disappointment.
To help occupy my mind and hands, I wrote and illustrated a story, sat cross-legged on the floor surrounded by paper and paints. The story grew into a published book. A real life book! With pages and everything!
Inspired by all of lockdown's little tragedies - like the unseen school plays and the uncelebrated birthday parties - The Greatest Disappointment follows the misadventure of a particularly brave coddiwomple named Bernard.
and ended with a purpose
The story served its purpose for me by keeping me sane while making it up, but I am so excited to share it. I hope it spreads some encouragement or a chuckle in these strange times, while also supporting cause that is so important to me.
The profits from each sale of a £10 book are donated to Help Refugees. Help Refugees fund grassroots organisations that support displaced people fleeing war, persecution and climate change. Their work is all the more important as these individuals also are enduring the pandemic's impacts too.
You can find more information about Help Refugees and their partner campaign Choose Love on their website here. I chose to support them as their model of partnering with local organisations on the ground means that resources can be efficiently directed to reach those who need support, without huge overhead costs.
with some incredible generosity in-between
This project was initially spread via Crowdfunder, where generous souls like you helped me to reach 821% of my initial target!
Bonkers, right?! You can watch the original video over to the left here.
I’ve decided to keep selling these books so the profits can continue to support Help Refugee’s valuable work, as long as there are lovely people out there who fancy reading them!
about your donation
£5 of each book purchase goes to Help Refugees,
supporting their partner organisations on the ground and helping to get material resources, funds and volunteers to where they are most needed.

I am so grateful to everyone that has donated, read and encouraged this little project of mine so far.
Thank you for being a part of it!
